Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness – even modest behaviors such opening the door for someone, telling a person you appreciate them, or simply saying “thank you” – can have the biggest effect.
It is proven that kindness boosts productivity. In a paper published by the Association of Professional Executives and written by Craig Dowden, who holds a PhD in psychology and contributes to Financial Post, Huffington Post, and Psychology Today, a study is cited that found teams who work in a respectful environment:
- Possess 26% more energy.
- Are 30% more likely to feel motivated and enthusiastic about acquiring new skills and being exposed to new ideas.
- Express 36% more satisfaction with their jobs and are 44% more committed to their organizations.
AlphaGroup Medical Communications is committed to kindness, and as scientists, we appreciate a study that proves our pledge to compassion correct. To further our obligation to our employees, we designed a virtual Kindness Board where team members may share words of thoughtfulness about colleagues and everyday life.
“During the pandemic and especially with working from home, stress levels are at an all-time high,” said AlphaGroup account coordinator Janel Gluch. “We sometimes forget that showing empathy and kindness toward others is one of the basics of human interaction.”
The AlphaGroup Kindness Board is located on the company’s SharePoint for employees of AlphaBioCom, AlphaScientia, and AlphaQsci agencies. The communal platform invites our associates to post acts of kindness such “one of my coworkers really lent a hand in helping with submissions the other day,” or “a certain team member showed empathy toward me when I was stressed.”
This practice of positive humanity sustains AlphaGroup’s founding principles of Precision, Integrity, and Passion. It also lets team members know they are appreciated and that their individual work is critical to the overall success of the organization.
